SCAR THERAPY

Lymphatouch Device

LymphaTouch is a versatile and efficient medical device that elevates manual therapy to a new level. The patented technology of LymphaTouch combines negative pressure and mechanical high-frequency vibration, which activates the lymphatic circulation and soft tissues in the treated area. The device can be used for pain management, swelling management, soft tissue mobilisation and scar therapy.

General Scar Therapy

Abdominal scars and any other scar for that matter can feel uncomfortable, tight and may pull when you move. Surgeries such as knee replacements and shoulder replacement involve cutting through many layers of tissue and when they heal, can lead to difficulty moving your joint - this is the opposite of what needs to happen when rehabbing a joint after surgery. Physiotherapy assessment can include assessing and treating your scar too and can help no end in your rehab recovery from any surgery. Scar therapy can be combined with other Physiotherapy techniques such as joint mobilisation, exercise prescription and expert advice. You may also be recommended to purchase scar products that you can use at home.

I trained in Scar Therapy with Hannah Paulton at HLP Therapy, the leading UK Scar Therapy

Physiotherapy Specialist.

C-Section Scar Therapy

If you’ve recently had a Caesarean (commonly known as a C-Section), you may find that your scar feels uncomfortable. It’s quite common for your scar to feel like it’s pulling, which may in turn cause discomfort elsewhere in your body such as your chest, back and pelvic floor.

Not only that, your scar may be red, raised, tight and angry looking – which we know from professional (and personal experience), can impact how we look and feel about our bodies.

Your scar may also impact, what you wear, intimacy with your partner, returning to exercise and so much more.

My C Section scar therapy, like any other Physiotherapy assessment and treatment, uses a combination of different methods to help the healing of your scar. These may include:

  • A comprehensive Physiotherapy assessment and consultation

  • A posture assessment

  • Movement and musculoskeletal assessment

  • Scar Assessment

  • Tummy check (for abdominal separation)

  • Pelvic floor check - if required can be discussed at your appointment

  • Manual Scar massage techniques - which will be taught to you to allow your to continue your treatment at home

  • C-Section Products

  • Dietary advice

  • Scar rehab and exercise plan
